Introduction
The final part of the trilogy.
Let’s face it, in todays modern society we are far too busy to take a step back and think do I really have to work a forty hour week and then work for ages at home?
I have a lot of research done on this subject, so much so that I have two reports done on it, so what you are about to read is extracts which I hope you will find to be of use as you try to take things more easily and SLOW DOWN!!
Slow Life Down and Become Blind to Time
Searching for “how to slow down and enjoy life” yields a whopping 432 million results.
Clearly, many of us are yearning for a break from the hustle and bustle of life. Even the most dedicated workaholics, who power through 16-hour days, sometimes want to take a step back and relax.
Whether you’ve worked tirelessly for years and now feel it’s time to enjoy the rest of your life, or you’re just a young person wanting to escape the chaos, there is a way to slow down.
It’s a radical idea compared to the world’s expectations, but if you want to savour your time, you must become blind to time.
Do You Clock Watch?
We all know the feeling – the first thing we do when we wake up is check the time. Even though we already know what time it is, we still take a peek at the clock. And when it comes to our phones, we know that the alarm will go off at a certain time, but we still check it. At the end of the day, when we’re about to go to bed, we check the time one last time.
It seems like we’re always worrying about time – when do we need to be at work? Is it time for lunch yet? How long until we get off? Checking the time is the only way to know. Even when we’re not at work and our time is our own, we still check the time to make sure we don’t miss our favorite show or are late to meet our friends for lunch.
Be Blind to Time but constantly worrying about the time can make it hard to appreciate life and what’s happening around us. So why not take a break from being a clock watcher every now and then and just enjoy the moment?
Be Blind to Time
Take some time each day to forget about the clock. Don’t be tempted to check your phone for the time – instead, get outside and connect with nature or find a place with no clocks.
When you break away from the need to know the time, you can start to appreciate the little things in life.
Even the busiest person can find a few moments to stop measuring time and do something they enjoy. Hang out with your friends, go for a walk, or just sit and laugh.
Don’t let the passing of time dictate how you live your life – create a life where you can take a break from the clock and enjoy every second.
Let Mother Nature Help You Enjoy Life by Slowing Life Down
The National Heart Association wants you to take a break and appreciate life.
One way to do this? Get outside! According to a study published in the 2014 Frontiers in Psychology journal, our brains are still connected to nature, even though we don’t live outside anymore.
Taking time to be in the sunshine and in a natural environment can have huge benefits for your mental and physical health.
Research shows that spending time in nature can reduce stress, boost your energy, and help keep negative thinking at bay.
So if you’re feeling fatigued, stressed, or just down, don’t reach for medication. Reach for the outdoors! A few minutes in nature is a free and natural way to treat the symptoms of a busy life.
Soak Up The Outdoors Slow Down but be Careful
Spending time in nature can be a great way to hit the reset button and just be present. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, but engaging with nature can help you take a step back and remember to slow down. So, why not take the time to soak up the beauty of the outdoors and be mindful of the moment?
After 10 years of tracking how nature affects human consciousness, Janet Frey Talbot and Stephen Kaplan reported their findings.
It turns out that when people spend time in the wilderness, they tend to lose their sense of time. When they return to their daily lives, they often have the desire to slow down and simplify.
They feel that consuming less is important and that their time in nature has given them a better understanding of what matters. Pretty cool, right?
Wouldn’t it be great to live in an environment where you don’t have to constantly be worrying about the clock ticking away?
Our lives have become so focused on time and productivity. We’re always in a rush, and it’s no wonder that road rage is so common.
We’re constantly striving to be faster and better, and it’s taking a toll on our relationships.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can slow down and reconnect with our natural roots.
Nature is a great way to de-stress and appreciate what life has to offer.
So why not take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and get back to nature? It’s a great way to reset and find a better appreciation for your life and the world around you.
Conclusion
Having just read these notes again, it is apparant that time is the prime factor in allowing us to slow down and enjoy life, the idea of stepping into nature is certainly one that appeals to me.
I love the outdoors and would much sooner be in the garden, or walking in the lovely countryside where I live, instead of spending time working on article and websites, but time has to be balnced as well as slowed down.
The next article which will be published on Monday will be “Stress Management”.
