Introduction
The other week I did say that I would try to lighten the mood in my next article, well here it is. You may ask how can self-improvement lighten my mood, will it not depress me even more when I discover that I am not as popular as I thought? Or a number of other things about me, do I really want to know?
It is simple of course you do.
Personally I do not care how old or young we are, we all surely must be in need of some self-improvement, or our we so arrogant that we believe that we are perfect already?
It is my belief that if we look at how we can improve ourselves that this will lead to a much happier and healthier you.
You will be aware that there are a number of self-improvement publications available today, you could even think that this could even be one of them even if it is, so what!
Some Ideas To Improve Yourself
Having reached your fortieth birthday, a number of things will suddenly become clear, you start to question certain things in your life. How do I feel about the life that I have lived so far? Will I have noticed any improvement as I near the end?
If someone that you know gave you a book or booklet on self-improvement, at the same time telling you that it is not too late to improve yourself, would that mean anything to you?
It certainly should do. However, you will feel anxious, this is quite normal. Upto the present moment life had been pretty good, so now you will feel confused. You will ask yourself, but I am happy.so what is the problem?
You had convinced yourself that your passions and dreams, had in fact died away, in fact this is the fear based side of you, along with the practical aspects of life.
The following are ten top tips that will help you to move your life to the next level. There is too much negativity in the world, you must learn to be positive. Motivation also plays a very vital part in both your life and these tips, before those on motivation will hopefully help you.
1. Not only give yourself permission to dream, but achieve them as well, do this by avoiding negative things, people and places. As a child you probably spent a lot of time day dreaming, about your ideal future, your superb job, so why give up now? When was the last time that you did a little day dreaming, what is more that you actually appreciated it.
2, No longer look outside of yourself for happiness. Have a look inside, find out who you are deep inside yourself, increase your own self-awareness. Have a relationship with yourself. In other words, believe in you and what you can do.
3. Do not forget your basic and personal needs, take time to ensure that you address them properly. If you try to exist on just the basic survival mode, how can you focus on having a thriving vibrant existence? Get yourself organised, what is the use wasting your time and energy? Sort them out. Motivation only comes if you are determined enough to do it. Look at every angle of your life, not just the bits that you like and enjoy.
4. Remember the past, then move on, think about why it happened, then ask yourself what do you want to do about things now? It is more important to ask yourself how you want to move forward. Never give up and never give in.
5. It is so easy to feel that everyone is against you, you feel overwhelmed with life, remember that you are not alone, seek help. Try reading articles on self-improvement, they could just help you to work out some of the things that are worrying you. Remember that when people are happy, that is when motivation takes place. So enjoy life, at work pretend that you are doing it for love not money, live on the assumption that you will live forever and so on.
6. Analyze what is working in your life, make a list, then count your blessings for all those good things that you have, do not be afraid to practice gratitude. The more that your mindset practices gratitude, the more that things that you are grateful for are attracted into your life. Never lose sight of that special ‘F’ word, Family and Friends, they are the greatest ‘F’ treasures that you could wish for.
7. It may have been a while since you felt your passions flow through you. Who do you most admire? How do they inspire you? When do you feel the most alive in your life? When do you exert extra effort in taking action? Where does self-improvement and motivation occur? Is at work, at home, at play or somewhere else?
8, Why not take action and take a risk? Inspiration is fine, you need the action to be inspired. You must hang on to your dreams, they will be your future, even small nuggets can turn into gold bars.
9. Never forget to keep breathing properly. When we breathe deeply it helps to combat stress, oxygen helps to keep us healthy and gives us energy. Always ignore those who are toxic, they will try to destroy you, never let people get the better of you. Whatever you do always try to be your self. Trying to please everyone else is the guaranteed way to fail.
10. Have yourself some fun, take yourself out for the day. Learn to love you, start to make things happen. Keep trying to make things happen, above all get motivated. If a person gets himself motivated, he sees the rubbish clearing out in front of himself, thus paving the way to self-improvement.
Bet you thought that this was another one of those articles on self-improvement.
The Heart of Self Improvement is Motivation
There can be a number of reasons why people change. Sometimes it can be pain, not always the physical sort, such as a broken leg, but the mental pain that can be caused by a number of things: In addition to pain we have:
Debt: This makes us realise that we failed to look for other ways to make money.
Humiliation: If we have been humiliated, this should give us the urge to defend ourselves by speaking out and fighting to save face.
Bad Experience:You could have had a bad experience, which has made you think again about things.
Seen a Great Film: This could inspire you to change how you look at life.
Always play fairly: Never lie, steal or cheat, be honest in everything that you do.
Get Your Eyes Open Wide: Try to learn the horse attitude and horse sense way of looking at things. Put simply they see things how they want them to be, and how they think they should be.
Practice is Motivation: If you learn from your mistakes, letting practice become perfect, we can then improve ourselves.
Choose Your Fate: There is an old saying that goes something like this “Winners never quit and Quitters never win”. Make a decision are you going to be a winner or a quitter?
Get Ready: Here I can you say, but I am not going out, that is not the question, motivation is about being prepared. you have to hear your inner voice telling us to started before others. Another old saying “It was not raining when Noah built the Ark!”
Procrastination: Stop it, and stop it now.
Take Control: You must take control of your life. Two key factors in self-improvement. Are self-control and discipline, they are synonymous with motivation.
Understanding Others: If you are able to talk, then you should be able to listen. Remember you must learn to understand first, and then be understood.
Be Able To Visualize: Compare it to a boat stranded on dry land, that is motivation without vision.
Want it: If you dream of achieving something, then you believe it, this is deeply rooted in self-improvement and motivation.
Being Unique: Let us face it, there will only ever be one you. So value what you have, you are only ever going to spend your uniqueness once, make the most of it.
The above are just a few of the many examples that we face in life, which could just give us the motivation that we need to improve ourselves.
Conclusion
It is always hard to accept that we need to improve ourselves, but I hope that these few words will have given you, should you need it, some ideas on how to have an even better life.
Then next article which I will post on Monday will be “Eat Healthy”.
Stay Healthy

Really loved reading this article, even as a fifty plus and it makes a lot of sense to live your life on your own terms and not on somebody else’s, like we all tend to do when we are young.
The great thing about getting older is that you can look back at the mistakes you have made and learn from them. But I find the one thing I need to remind myself to do is to go out and have some fun more often. I enjoy my work, so I have become a bit of a workaholic of late, and I need to learn to let go a bit more there.
Hi Michel, many thanks for this informed reply, I can certainly empathise with your comments, suggest that you build into your routine time to have fun and relax, even if it is just going for a walk.

Totally agree with your point of view!
I think most people are always too pessimistic about life and the future.
They always have a lot of ideas to implement, but they will make a lot of excuses for themselves.
Too many times I’ve been excited to share my dreams with others only to be overwhelmed by their negativity.
Of course, I was not affected, and I stopped discussing it with others.
Cause it doesn’t really matter to me!!
As long as I believe in myself enough, it is enough to move towards the goal every day, and I will feel very satisfied in my inner state.
What a very honest and interesting post, many thanks.
