Beat The Drug Habit

Introduction

It is logical, well to my mind, that having written articles on Smoking and Alcohol, that we now have a look at another social habit that is also a killer, put simply drugs, so let us have a look at how to beat the drug habit. This article is being written not just for those who are taking drugs, but for those who know someone who is, whether it be family, friends or just someone whom you happen to be aware of, that has a habit.

As one who has never had an addiction, apart from smoking and drinking, I could never comprehend how people can take drugs, let alone become dependant on them. In my very limited experience of drug taking, I am aware that they can cause people to get into a real mess with regard to their finances, being ripped of by those who pray on their addiction, otherwise known as the pushers. These are the characters who slouch about on street corners waiting for their mark, or drug addict to feed them more rubbish. Taking their money, often stolen, or as a result of selling stolen goods, or stealing cash from others.

An Overview

Drugs can have a devastating effect on your health, your family life, and your social life. But it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right help and support, you can beat the drug habit and reclaim your life.

The first step to overcoming a drug habit is to admit that you have a problem. This can be difficult, but it’s the only way to begin the process. Once you admit that you need help, you can start to look for the right kind of support.

It’s important to find a support system that works for you. This could be a counselor, a support group, or a combination of both. Having someone to talk to who understands your situation can be incredibly helpful. It is beyond the scope of this article to list the agencies that can provide the user with such help, a search on the internet will provide such a list.

It’s also important to remember that beating the drug habit is not easy. It will take time and effort and will require you to make significant changes to your lifestyle. You may need to cut ties with people who are still using drugs and find healthier activities to do in your free time. As daft as it sounds, if you do have a drug problem, try going for long walks, especially if you can, in the countryside, away from other people, it will hurt, but you have to help yourself to cure the problem.

Also, trying to find someone who you can confide in can help, if you feel able to explain to them your problem, going for a walk with them will also help you to relax.

The cost of drugs can also be a major factor in your decision to quit. The financial burden of buying drugs can be overwhelming, and it can be difficult to break free from the cycle of addiction. In addition to these problems, pushers have also been known to pester the user in the hope of making more money, should the user try to stop.

This can then lead to problems when trying to fund the habit, do the partner and children do without, do you start to steal to give you the funds, the result here is certain to lend you in jail!

This will lead to not only a criminal record, but worse, it is unlikely that you will be allowed to kick your habit behind bars, the Drug Barons will see to that. Result when released you will be in a worse state than ever.

NO JOB NO MONEY NO LIFE

Ask yourself is it worth it?

Just what Drugs are out there?

When my limited knowledge of drug taking is examined as to what drugs can be taken by the addict I have come to the conclusion that they include the following, in no particular order:

  • Coccaine
  • Prescription Drugs (Not being taken on prescription)
  • Ecstasy Tablets

  • Heroin

  • Cannabis

  • Lest us not forget

  • Alcohol and Tobacco.

Do appreciate that I have not covered them all, but hope that you get the general idea.

Conclusion

Finally, it’s important to remember that beating the drug habit is possible. With the right help and support, you can reclaim your life and start living a healthier, happier life.

Having just read this article again, I feel that I possibly owe you an apology, it is as if I think that you are a drug addict, please forgive me, it was certainly not my intention to imply this, rather to help you understand the problems that drug addicts can have.
