Introduction
The title of this article might just surprise some people, those I can hear say what has happiness got to do with health, others, including me, will reply “Quite a lot actually”.
If you are happy then you will not stress, your blood pressure should not be elevated, are just simple examples of how happiness can affect your health.
The other night I was in one of those “Cannot be bothered moods”. Switched on the television, flicked through the channels, doing so I came across Andre Rieu, I do like his programmes, so for two hours had a wonderful evening listening to his music, result, I then went on the computer and spent the best part of two more hours working on my website, why? because I was relaxed and happy.
You can of course be happy in many different ways.
Be Happy as You Want to Be
A lot of people will have the hit single “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. This song is very catchy, and conveys the message of being happy to everyone. This message is simple, and no doubt made a lot of people happy, by conveying the fact that they do not need to worry.
BE HAPPY AND SMILE
It is very good for your health, if you live a resilient, optimistic and above all happy life. If you are happy, it also protects you from life stresses. As we have discussed in other articles on this site stress is known to be linked to those top killer diseases, such as cancer, strokes and heart.
In our lifetime we have the power to make any changes that are needed, should we want to. An old saying goes something like this “The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change”. Should we find ourselves in situations which we consider to be unbearable, we can rest easy knowing that too could change.
Essential to your happiness are relationships, including social networks. Everyone is different, you must learn to accept others for what, or who they are. Learn to avoid constant arguments, all forms of resentment and avoid clashes of any sort. Should an argument seem to be totally unavoidable, you must still try to make the effort to see if you can understand what is happening, it is possible that you could get on with the person involved.
You might find it hard to believe, but happiness is actually found in everybody. Making sure that it is increased is one way of making life more healthy and a lot more bearable.
To make yourself happy is fairly simple, just make that decision to be happy. It is reported that Abraham Lincoln that most people can decide how relaxed or troubled they will be, whether their outlook will be dull or bright, or even stressed or happy. Just make the simple choice, be happy.
Make A Choice
You have several ways to achieve this, or in other words to decide how to be happy. Here are some of them.
Be grateful: This is a really good attitude to have. If you think about it we have so much to be grateful for, thank your partner for cooking your evening meal. Thank the Bus/Taxi driver for the safe journey home. You can thank any number of people who have done you a service. For being alive thank God.
News and Stress: If you think about it news can be very stressful, at the moment in the UK we have strike after strike, how do I deal with it? I Ignore it, it does not matter to me if the Teachers or Hospitals or Train Drivers are on strike. At the risk of being uncaring why should I care about who is on strike, after all I can do nothing about it, so why worry.
Religion: Appreciate that this is not every ones cup of tea, however if you are part of a religious group, you could find inner peace when sing the hymns, listen to readings and prayers.
Time Management: All time is valuable, yours more so, far too important to waste. You could look at time management has a set or list of rules, these can include;
- Planning
- Setting goals
- To do ;lists
- Prioritizing and
- Scheduling
Whilst these are the basics of time management, they need to be understood to enable you to develop a personal and efficient time management skill.
Laughter is the Best Medicine. Try to laugh each and every day. Have you heard any good jokes recently, if so tell your family and friends. Always remember the saying “Laugh, and the world laughs with you”. Think that I also recall the saying that laughter was good for the soul.
Show Your Feelings: Do not be afraid to show your feelings, friendship, passion and affections to those people around you. It is possible that they will return your actions in some way. Avoid keeping anger, or frustrations pent-up, this can be bad for your health. Try to find different ways of showing your feelings in such a way that no one will be offended or hurt by your actions.
Exercise: It matters not whether you walk, swim, jog or even run, or indeed do other things that your body will appreciate, these exercises make you feel alive.
Work Hard: If you work hard it can bring a great deal of personal satisfaction. When you finish your job in hand, makes you feel competent, usually because your have achieved something. It is always better if you work on things that you feel are worthwhile.
Educate Yourself: If possible try to learn something every day. that you consider to be new. It could be a skill, a different method of how you work on the computer, what it is does not really matter as long as it is useful. Not only does learning help us to be better educated, but could lead to more opportunities in the future.
Avoid Negatives: How can you be happy if you subject yourself to such things as dangerous places and loud noises, amongst other such things.
Conclusion
Do so hope that you can realise just how happy we can be, if we follow some of these simple ideas.

Hi Aly,
Many thanks for your valued comments.

Happiness is a state of mind that is often linked to a sense of well-being, contentment, and satisfaction with one’s life. i agreed the importance of adopting healthy habits such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and good sleep hygiene in promoting a sense of well-being.
It is important to developing a positive mindset and building strong social connections as key components of happiness. This is because positive emotions can promote a sense of calm and relaxation, which can help individuals manage stress and improve overall health.
Hm..How can individuals maintain a positive mindset and cultivate a sense of well-being in the face of challenges and adversity, such as difficult life events or chronic stress?
Hi Maxon,
Thank you for these comments, think that you have answered your question in your comments. Basically by having or using positive emotions.
Regards
Stuart
In fact, my own experience tells me that happiness is the best medicine.
Now everyone lives in the city for a long time, resulting in endless desires that lead to dissatisfaction and even unhappiness.
It is conceivable that some physical diseases will gradually appear.
I have always believed that people have chakras and that physical diseases are caused by chakra blockage.
Live in the moment and cherish everything around you.
Feeling happy from the heart can keep away from disease~
Many thanks for this really delightful comment.
